The 2008 version of this wine exhibits very concentrated flavors of wild raspberry, cassis, espresso and black licorice that explode in your mouth. The aromas are quite similar but with more concentrated dark red fruits and juiciness. Rich tannins complement the jammy raspberry fruits that finish long and mouth watering from the wonderful natural acids.
"Deep violet. Brooding aromas of cherry, bitter chocolate, licorice pastille, pepper and herbs; showing a serious side today. Firm, concentrated and powerful but not heavy, with creamy-sweet dark berry flavors leavened by a tangy mineral quality that runs through the wine. This deep, gently tannic wine should live to an old age on its sheer depth of fruit. Finishes with good grip and subtle, lingering tannins."

"The 2008 Zinfandel Papera Vineyard has a more raspberry, blueberry, and boysenberry-infused nose, a similar dark opaque purple color, tart, high acids, medium to full body, and juicy fruit. I just don’t understand the heavy-handed acid adjustments, given what extraordinary fruit this wine possesses."
