With yields lowered by Spring frost, this wine shows concentrated flavors of wild blackberry, boysenberry, anise and cassis. Aromas of sweet blackberry preserves, pipe tobacco and white pepper spice fill your glass. The matured, rich tannins coat your mouth and finish with mouth watering acidity. The mouthfeel is quite dense and extremely rich, and it should age nicely over the next couple of years.
"Dense ruby/purple, full-bodied, rich and impressively endowed, the 2008 Zinfandel Forchini Vineyard again has been heavily acidified, but it seems to work better thanks to the wine's concentration and fruit. It should again be drunk in its exuberant youthfulness, before the baby fat tails off."
The Wine Advocate
"Inky purple. Very ripe aromas of dark berries, smoke, pipe tobacco and game. Fat, musky and sweet, with very good depth and unlikely energy to its powerful flavors of boysenberry, mulberry, smoke and candied flowers. Quite broad and chewy, but not at all heavy or overtly sweet. Finishes with smooth, palate-dusting tannins and a strong echo of violet pastille. This needs bottle aging."
