Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Aromas of cassis, black currents, sweet herbs and black truffles fill the glass. The concentrated flavors of wild berries, espresso, cardamom and exotic spices develop throughout the palate. Rich, prominent tannins are carried through nicely with a bit of acidity in the finish. Age for 6-7 years for full expression of the site.

Critical Acclaim

"Saturated ruby. Spicy cherry and redcurrant on the seductively perfumed nose, with complex floral and botanical herb qualities. Juicy and sharply focused, with vibrant red fruit flavors and a hint of vanilla bean. Fine-grained tannins add grip and focus to the seamless, clinging finish."
