Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The ripe fruit offers an amazing aromatic nose of black cherries, rose petal and nutmeg. The vivid cherry/strawberry aromas, with a hint of truffle, spice, ripe plums, cardamom, toffee and cola, are classic to this vineyard site. Your mouth will water with flavors of wild cherries, pomegranates, sassafras, fennel and white truffles. I find that the balanced acidity helps to carry the rich and round tannins that follow through long into the finish.

Critical Acclaim

"Taut and snappy, with firm, ripe blueberry and blackberry fruit that is subtle and engaging, gaining depth and velocity on the finish. Best from 2013 through 2022."
91 Points

"Bright ruby-red. Intense aromas of black raspberry, candied cherry, cola and Indian spices. Lush and expansive but lively, offering an array of dark berry and spice flavors lifted by gentle acidity. Shows very good power on the finish, leaving spice and rose notes behind. "
