Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The yellow-golden hued 2010 Pinot Gris exhibits an evolved nose of red apple and young coconut intermixed with wet stones and white pepper on the nose. With fresh kiwi and citrus notes on the palate the flavors start soft and build to a crisp finish. The pronounced acidity is complemented by notes of honeysuckle, lemon sherbert, toasted bread, candied pear and tart pineapple on the finish. With great acidity and energy we think this wine will pair best with something fresh like prociutto e melone, or even a bright, creamy squash soup. Serve well chilled.

Critical Acclaim

"There's a spicy edge to the pear and balsamic flavors in this savory white. Drink now. 3,771 cases made."

Learn About WillaKenzie Estate Map ItMap It

WillaKenzie Estate is located in Oregon's Willamette Valley on rolling hillsides in the Chehalem Mountains. The winery was named after the Willakenzie soil on which the vineyards are planted to convey the influence that the soil imparts on the wine's flavors and aromas. The vineyards are planted with grapes of the Pinot family, mostly new Dijon clones of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris from Alsace. Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris are cool climate grapes, which are particularly well adapted to Oregon.

Pinot Gris' most popular and successful region is Alsace, France, an area of the country that actually puts the name of the grape on the label. Pinot Grigio is the Italian version of the grape,...
