This Merlot comes from the Monarch Vineyard in Chiles Valley. This vineyard is planted high above the Valley floor at an elevation of 1,400 feet. This wine is fermented on its own natural yeast, then barrel aged in American oak for fourteen months. Powerful black cherry fruit accented by herbal spice and earth aromas lead into intense black fruits with suggestions of tobacco and cedar. This complex wine finishes with soft lingering tannins.
