Alcohol By Volume Guide
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
A beautifully intense and lively wine, overflowing with aromas of ripe
gooseberry, melon and passionfruit with hints of grapefruit, lime and nettles. The
wine is mouth-filling and juicy with vibrant fruit and fantastic mid palate richness
and weight, finishing rich and racy with excellent length and crispness. Enjoy
now and until 2012.
"Typical Villa Maria, with that extra dimension of aroma and varietal flavour common to all its wines; tropical notes of passionfruit marry with ripe citrus and gooseberry fruit flavours, the finish long and balanced."
Australian Wine Companion
"Refreshing and vibrant, offering tangerine and lime-tinged nectarine and green apple flavors that keep sailing through the long, generous and lively finish. Drink now. 500 cases imported."
2009 Sold out - Wegman's has the 2009 in plentiful stock for $14.99 - std. price !!!!!
Villa Maria is terrific - Light, crisp, juicy to the last drop. Enjoyed the first bottle with baked flounder and a hearty salad. Second bottle - all by itself -- (not on the same day). Will buy this again. Great buy for $20.
We like all the Marlborough County New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs, citrus-y gooseberry lime and grapefruit notes and all. Villa Maria's Cellar Selection is one step up from there. Excellent.
Light and crisp.
This is probably the best sub $20 bottle of white I have had. Very fruity with complex flavor and fragrance, and yet not a bit of sweetness. The signature New Zealand SB passion fruit taste is actually on the lighter side because the other flavors are very rich and complex. Nice woody/grassy over tone, mixed with guava, passionfruit, kiwi, citrus, and cranberries. Ordering the third time.
