"The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is simply beautiful. Now that the wine is in bottle it is even better than when I tasted it from barrel. Firm but silky tannins frame a core of ripe dark fruit as this powerful yet elegant Brunello opens up in the glass. Smoke, cured meats, earthiness and graphite develop in the glass, adding further complexity. Sweet roses and spices linger on the long, refined finish. This is a big, structured Brunello, and like all of Abbruzzese's wines, it needs at least a few years of bottle age before it offers its finest drinking. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. "

Classic, old world, luxurious. This is really for wine experts. On the nose, you can easily pick that it is old world. There are a lot of dirt, mud, and dried leaves going on. Midpalate, there are layers earthiness and hints of black fruits. Finish, it has a long finish. It is well balanced. There are some black fruits dancing on my palate, but the fruit flavors are not as vibrant as the earthiness and dirtiness this wine has (this is a good thing). I'm not sure if I am making sense but this puts you in a classic Italian night. I believe this wine is indeed very well made. I am 94 on this effort. Seek it out.
