Winemaker's Notes

This wine is an extraordinary example of the wines produced in this wild, wind-swept, extremely cool appellation. It has a vibrant, light ruby color and a nose of dried rose petals, strawberry/raspberry puree, and a hint of cardamom. On the palate the structure is elegant, with lively well-balanced acidity that builds to a nuanced crescendo of crème brulee, mocha and chocolate-covered cherries. It has an extremely long finish of fine grained tannins and fresh rose petals.

Critical Acclaim

"Fragrant strawberry and Rainier cherry scents fill this bright, brisk pinot. The fruit is clean and zesty straight through to the finish. Light tannins keep it tight and smoky. For grilled salmon with morels."
90 Points

"Here the nose is notably more elegant and perfumed with an airy mix of primarily red cherry and raspberry nuanced by plum hints that complement supple, forward and slightly less concentrated flavors that finish with good length and a clean (but not commercial).

Tasting note: mouth feel. Again, the style is ultra pure and balanced if not as complex as would be ideal. Still, this is awfully pretty."

Silver Oak's winemaker,...

But Sonoma, with her size, is able to vouch for more diversity within her borders, including sub-AVAs that are climatically varied. The atmosphere of Sonoma is decidedly laid back and down home country style. But in wines, they are keeping up with the...
