The 2012 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a rich, multi-faceted wine with great fruit and spice expression. It has a dark, cherry-red color and a complex nose of potpourri, ripe strawberries, cardamom, nutmeg and peat. It has a fruit-sweet attack, a fleshy mid-palate and notes of blond tobacco and coffee bean on the long and slightly tannic finish. With proper cellaring, this wine will give drinking pleasure through 2024.
"Twomey's 2012 Russian River pinot noir, sourced from three separate vineyards, is bursting with flavor but not at all heavy: a clean, crisp beam of red fruit that picks up complex aromas of lilac, forest mushrooms and rosemary. It's delicious already, though the oak feels more integrated with a day of air. With its restraint and classical balance, it should gain from a few more years in the cellar. "
