Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

#12 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2013

Critical Acclaim

"Rich and powerful, but focused like a laser, with wild berry and toasty briar aromas that lead to ripe but complex flavors of black cherry, licorice and spicy orange peel. The tannins are big but fleshy."
95 Points

"Another pretty wine, the 2011 Zinfandel Dusi Vineyard is a touch more aromatically expressive, nuanced and layered than the Pesenti. Sweet floral notes, herbs and red fruits are all woven together nicely in this attractive, mid-weight Zinfandel.
Range: 91-93"
93 Points

"Good deep red. High-pitched aromas of crushed cherry, cranberry, raspberry and orange zest; smells high in acidity! Then vibrant and penetrating on the palate, offering a captivating balance between salinity and primary red fruit flavors. A bit youthfully aggressive today owing to its high alcohol, but the wine's rocky limestone lift gives the finish surprising precision.
Rating: 92(+?)"
