Alcohol By Volume: 14.2%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2010 vintage of Melée Grenache is a beautiful deep ruby/plum color with a striking wet polished garnet quality in the glass. The aromas are unmistakably Grenache with wonderful notes of freshly picked rose petal, early season plum and Luxardo Cherry along with scents of shale, new leather and a hint of tobacco. This wine explodes on the palate with focused flavors of currant, licorice, blue iris and ripe black cherry. Complimenting these flavors are supple, yet firm, tannins and soaring acidity that produce a long lasting, elegant and linear finish.

Blend: 90% Grenache, 10% Syrah

Critical Acclaim

"Delivers a core of ripe raspberry and blackberry that is firm, with crisp acidity and flinty tannins. Most impressive for a long, pure, focused finish. Drink now through 2022."
