Winemaker's Notes

Lake County has been garnering a lot of attention lately. And rightly so. Over the past few decades, this rural county bordering Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino has demonstrated its ability to grow top quality wine grapes. Our Lake County vineyards yielded a powerful Cab that is deep, dense and ripe with plums, dried herbs and red earth. It delivers the warm fruit and broad mouth feel typical of Lake County Cabernet.

For the past few vintages, grapes from Lake County have played an important role in our Trinchero Family Cabernet Sauvignon. Each year, these lots have stood out for their character, color, depth of flavor and balance. In 2004, the quality was so high that we made the inevitable decision to designate the whole bottling as Lake County. It features grapes from our estate vineyard in Middletown and two sites in Red Hills, Beckstoffer's Amber Knolls Vineyard and the Snows Lake Vineyard.
