Winemaker's Notes:

88% Zinfandel, 10% Petite Sirah, 2% Sangiovese.

This bottle of Zinfandel was made mostly from our best block of Zinfandel, Block 303. A portion of the Zinfandel was co-fermented with a small amount of Sangiovese. This wine is exuberantly fruity with pronounced dark cherry nose, wild blackberries, pepper and a hint of brown sugar and cinnamon. On the palate the wine is showing its youth as well, with a full body and fairly tannic finish with promises for greatness in about 2 years.

My Notes:

About Trentadue Winery:

The Trentadues were among the very first to plant new vines in Sonoma County since the days of Prohibition. Italians love their red wines, especially hearty reds like Carignane. In 1962, the Trentadue family began planting new Carignane vines in addition to the 68 acres of old vines already growing on their ranch. Now more than 35 years old, these vines are among the oldest producing Carignane vineyards in America. The family remains steadfastly devoted to this grape, and their wine ranks indisputably among just a handful of top ranked California Carignane.
