Winemaker's Notes:

A very well-balanced and aromatic style of Sauvignon Blanc with passion fruit and grapefruit notes. The palate is crisp and dry, but yet packed with citrus. Perfect on its own or it will pair nicely with asparagus, chicken salads or cream pasta dishes.

100% Sauvignon Blanc from the vineyards of Puilacher, which is close to Montpellier, alongside the Hérault River in the Languedoc. The location is perfect for Sauvignon because of the cool climate and rich soils.

About Tortoise Creek:

Tortoise Creek wines come from the southern French area known as the Languedoc. For many years, the region was mainly known as a producer of good "vin ordinaire" due to the remarkable weather conditions and vast array of quality growing areas. But, as the average wine-drinking consumer began to look for more then "vin ordinaire", many wine makers in the region reacted and employed modern viticultural and winemaking techniques. Today the region produces many of the most spectacular wine values in Europe.

In Provence, their home was surrounded by vines with a small pond at the edge of the vineyard. On hot sunny days, Mel and Janie would sit beside the pond and picnic, sharing their scraps with the little tortoises swimming around the pond. Soon, the tortoises became known as the Litre family, with the Mum and Dad being Hecto and Millie Litre and the offspring of course, being Centi Litre! Naturally, when embarking upon a new wine project they decided to call it Tortoise Creek. And, it was only fitting to have Hecto, Millie and Centi prominently displayed on the label!
