Winemaker's Notes:

Very refreshing with pleasant aromas of pears and melon. On the palate, expect stone and mineral flavors followed by a full-bodied, fruity finish. 100% Chardonnay. The wine is produced with absolutely no oak. A perfect complement to lemon chicken, Asian dishes or lighter pasta and seafood entrees.

Tortoise Creek is a range of varietal wines from the Languedoc district of the South of France. The Languedoc region is a land of diversity, reflected in the countless subtleties of its many wines. The remarkable weather conditions and vast array of quality growing areas give each wine a uniqueness found only to the Languedoc. Winemakers Mel and Janie Master understood the potential of the Languedoc, and with their passion for good wine and good food, embarked on a commitment to produce quality wines at value driven prices.

About Tortoise Creek:

Tortoise Creek wines come from the southern French area known as the Languedoc. For many years, the region was mainly known as a producer of good "vin ordinaire" due to the remarkable weather conditions and vast array of quality growing areas. But, as the average wine-drinking consumer began to look for more then "vin ordinaire", many wine makers in the region reacted and employed modern viticultural and winemaking techniques. Today the region produces many of the most spectacular wine values in Europe.

In Provence, their home was surrounded by vines with a small pond at the edge of the vineyard. On hot sunny days, Mel and Janie would sit beside the pond and picnic, sharing their scraps with the little tortoises swimming around the pond. Soon, the tortoises became known as the Litre family, with the Mum and Dad being Hecto and Millie Litre and the offspring of course, being Centi Litre! Naturally, when embarking upon a new wine project they decided to call it Tortoise Creek. And, it was only fitting to have Hecto, Millie and Centi prominently displayed on the label!
