Winemaker's Notes:

The grapes are grown and sourced from four single vineyard sites from the Languedoc region in the south of France along the Mediterranean. No oak was used and the wine was bottled without filtration. The Cabernet has fruity notes of black cherry and spice that dance on the nose. Silky on the palate with flavors of blackberries, dark cherry and licorice with a long finish. Enjoy with roasted potatoes, grilled steak, beef stew and firmer cheeses.

Additional wines from Tortoise Creek:

About Tortoise Creek:

Tortoise Creek wines come from the southern French area known as the Languedoc. For many years, the region was mainly known as a producer of good "vin ordinaire" due to the remarkable weather conditions and vast array of quality growing areas. But, as the average wine-drinking consumer began to look for more then "vin ordinaire", many wine makers in the region reacted and employed modern viticultural and winemaking techniques. Today the region produces many of the most spectacular wine values in Europe.

In Provence, their home was surrounded by vines with a small pond at the edge of the vineyard. On hot sunny days, Mel and Janie would sit beside the pond and picnic, sharing their scraps with the little tortoises swimming around the pond. Soon, the tortoises became known as the Litre family, with the Mum and Dad being Hecto and Millie Litre and the offspring of course, being Centi Litre! Naturally, when embarking upon a new wine project they decided to call it Tortoise Creek. And, it was only fitting to have Hecto, Millie and Centi prominently displayed on the label!
