Winemaker's Notes:

It is more than three decades since this mysterious Spanish wine was born. The label: Black. The bottle: Burgundy style. The variety: Cabernet Sauvignon. Few had much faith in this project. Certainly, nobody back in 1979, could have dreamed that it would triumph in a Parisian blind tasting against some of the world's most famous wines. Yet it marked the start of a new era in wine making: a time in which to stop dreaming and embarck on a new journey, year after year, harvest after harvest.

This wine's noble and healthy tannins will complement the best meat and game dishes.

"The color and weight on this Spanish Cabernet are just right. After that, it becomes an insider's wine. Why do we say that? Because it's not like a Napa, Washington or Chilean Cabernet that oozes cassis, plum and sweet French oak. Instead, it shows teh terroir of the Mas La Plana vineyard in Northeast Spain, and with airing (decanting even better) it becomes a sexy, interesting, Old World Cabernet that delivers provoking, earthier flavors. Should age well for another decade." 92 Points
