Tora Bay

Over a thousand years ago Kupe and Ngake gifted the name Wairarapa to this remote area. Captain Cook first sailed the coast line in 1770, to be followed in the 1800's by the first European Settlers who arrived on foot with their flocks of sheep from Port Nicholson (now Wellington). Up until the 1930's all wool and stock left the area by sea. The Pacific Ocean and its abundance of sea life still dominate this wild and beautiful landscape. From this land and its beginnings the folks at Tora Bay find thier daily inspiration for Tora Bay wines.
