Winemaker's Notes

The 2010 Tora Bay Sauvignon Blanc is a fresh, vibrant wine with great drinkability. The nose shows intense ripe tropical aromas with obvious Sauvignon Blanc varietal character. The highly concentrated palate enjoys a powerful intensity of up-front fruit followed by full long finish. It clearly reflects the initial impression delivered by the aromatics showing impeccable balance length of flavor. Drinking well now, this wine will also reward further cellaring for 2-3 years.

Critical Acclaim

"Equally aromatic and delicious, this brims with honeysuckle, passion fruit and nectarine flavors that are generous, juicy, ripe and delicious. Shows focus and a wonderful acidity on a light body. Drink now. 900 cases imported."

Learn About Tora Bay Map ItMap It

Over a thousand years ago Kupe and Ngake gifted the name Wairarapa to this remote area. Captain Cook first sailed the coast line in 1770, to be followed in the 1800's by the first European Settlers who arrived on foot with their flocks of sheep from Port Nicholson (now Wellington). Up until the 1930's all wool and stock left the area by sea. The Pacific Ocean and its abundance of sea life still dominate this wild and beautiful landscape. From this land and its beginnings the folks at Tora Bay find thier daily inspiration for Tora Bay wines.
