Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This wine has a stunning pale straw color with hints of green in it. The aromas are full of ripe fruits such as guava, green fig and gooseberries. There are hints of asparagus and nettles in the background. The palate is full and rich with flavors of greengage, lemongrass, ripe gauvas and fresh honeydew melon. The wine finish crisp and has a lingering freshness.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2011 Reserve Collection Elgin Sauvignon Blanc comes from Tokara's own vines. It has a delightful bouquet of bruised apple, pear skin and a touch of nettle that is well defined and generous. The palate is crisp and vibrant on the entry: an effervescent Sauvignon with plenty of peppery fruit on the focused, taut finish. This is a high quality Sauvignon."
