Ripe, smooth and almost fleshy with incredible concentration and balance : the best Crozes-Hermitage ever produced by Tardieu-Laurent!
"Michel Tardieu’s 2009 red Northern Rhone offerings still have a long wait in barrel before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. They all reveal deep colors as well as abundant concentration, structure and power. I thought the best cuvees were the Cornas, St.-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage and Hermitage. The Hermitage and Cornas appear capable of 15 or more years of evolution, and the Crozes-Hermitage and St.-Joseph should last at least a decade. The Cote Rotie Vieilles Vignes exhibited great fruit, but it was not a sensational wine in comparison with the other efforts.Range: 90-93"
The Wine Advocate
"Inky-purple. Aromas of blackberry, violet, licorice and smoky minerals. Fat, sweet and lush, with a slightly medicinal quality to its weighty dark berry and fruitcake flavors. Finishes with a very fine dusting of tannins and a major blast of minerals. Distinctly rich but there's ample energy to maintain shape and focus."

Tardieu-Laurent is an extremely unusual operation in that they are a negociant only, buying young wines from growers all over the Rhone, which...Read More About Tardieu-Laurent

The hill of Hermitage is something to be seen. It is a hill (just one hill) of only about 300 acres, with carefully terraced vines in granite based-soil. The soils of the hill are plotted to make sure that the best variety is planted in the best plot of soil, and the wines reflect those decisions. The hill is...Read More About Hermitage
(seh-RAH/shee-RAHZ) It's a Smokin' Grape Syrah and Shiraz - same grape, different name. It's a popular and adept variety, growing in multiple regions and creating many different styles of wine. The home base of Syrah is the Northern Rhone, where it creates the exclusive wines of Hermitage and Cote Rotie. On the less pricy side, the Rhone makes Syrah-based wines in Crozes...Read More About Syrah/Shiraz
