The nose and palate of Tahbilk Cabernet Sauvignon exhibit an intense mixture of eucalyptus and spice combined with blackberry undertones. The finish is long and flavorsome and balanced with fine grape tannins.

Established in 1860 Tahbilk is one of Australia's most beautiful & historic wineries, located in the Nagambie Lakes region of central Victoria (120kms north of Melbourne) one of the nation's premium viticultural areas.
The property comprises some 1,214 hectares of rich river flats with a frontage of 11 kms to the Goulburn River and 8 kms of permanent backwaters & creeks.
The vineyard comprises 168 hectares of vines which include the rare Rhone whites of Marsanne, Viognier & Roussanne, along with classical varieties such as Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Chardonnay, Riesling, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc & Verdelho. View all Tahbilk Wines

With a landmass the size of the US, Australia has just as many appellations. Many wines are simply labeled from their state of origin. Some of these are the most popular:
New South Wales- home to Sydney and other tourist destinations, New South Wales has a smaller focused wine growing region, but many wines are a blend of these smaller appellations and so are deemed New South Wales appellation.
Western Australia– a small corner of Australia winemaking occurs on the opposite coast of the others. The largest state, Western Australia includes the smaller appellation of Margaret River.
Southeastern Australia– This appellation encompasses the states of South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria. Grapes are often trucked in from at least 2 of these states for crushing and bottling, giving the wine a more general appellation of origin. This is the broadest appellation in the country.

I wanted to like this wine, certainly its advertised style fits my taste. Sadly it just does not deliver. The fruit tastes crushed and the tannins are bitter. No oak is really in evidence. The price is right but there are many better choices.Related Products
