Susana Balbo Signature Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
Cabernet Sauvignon from Argentina, South America
Deep ruby color with hints of purple. Classic Cabernet aromas of rich red fruits, red pepper, plum, tobacco leaf, roasted coffee beans, and a touch of fresh mint. The aromas are echoed on the palate, with layers of fruit and spice pushing on and on. It's a full-bodied wine that has incredible length and purity of flavor—it really keeps you coming back for more. If Cabernet Sauvignon dreamed at night, this is what it would dream about!
Pairs well with a wide range of foods from beef and pork to lamb, quail and other game birds, and cream-based sauces. This wine will age very well, so don't forget some bottles for the cellar too.
The Wine Advocate - "Aromas of wood smoke, spice box, tobacco, coffee, and assorted black fruits inform the nose of a supple, easygoing, relatively forward wine that will deliver plenty of pleasure over the next 5-7 years."
International Wine Cellar - "Bright ruby-red. Cassis, bitter chocolate, licorice and spices on the nose. Juicy, spicy and nicely delineated, with a restrained sweetness to the flavors of plum and currant. Finishes with a firm tannic spine that should support some aging, but this would be good with fatty meats right now. Classy Cabernet for the price range."

Notable FactsUnlike its Chilean neighbor, Argentina's vineyards are spread out around the country. The best known region is Mendoza, almost parallel to Santiago to the west. Mendoza contains the sub-regions of Maipu (pronounced MY-pu) and San Rafael. Grape-wise, the most important white is Chardonnay, making wine similar to California's style on the variety. Another fun white grape to try is Torrontes. Almost only grown in Argentina, Torrontes makes wines that are crisp, aromatic and easy-drinking. Some of the best versions of this wine come from the northern region of Salta, with very high altitude vineyards. As for the reds, Cabernet Sauvignon is the main grape for many wines leaving the country, but Malbec, the grape Argentinians like to call their own, makes very distinctive wines that are structured, dense and velvety. Many more varieties happily grow in the country, but for export, and consistent quality, these are the primary grapes.

Nice with red meat. Reasonable price but can find better values. I would try others first before buying more.ANGEL CUENTAS - Chula Vista, CA57/31/2012

- Smooth & Supple
Alcohol By Volume GuideMost wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
Wine Style Guide

- Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.
Big & Bold
