Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Ripe blackberry, cherry and cassis aromas greet the senses with a touch of tobacco leave, thyme and sage. Bold flavors echo the aromas, with a touch of black currant and molasses. The wine finishes with vibrant acidity, with sweet black fruit flavors and dusty tannins.

Blend: 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec, 9% Petit Verdot, 2% Syrah

Style: Big & Bold
Buyer beware! It is always a risk buying such heavily discounted wines. This wine is a parody of what I consider to be California or new world wines: masses of over-ripe fruit with an astringent aftertaste. The latter, I assume, comes from the alcohol content: 16.9%! It's criminal to make a table wine like this. This is really port, but without the sweetness, the finesse or balance.
