Winemaker Notes

*Winery changed labels part way through the 2010 vintage. Customers may receive label reading Monument Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 or Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2010. *

Formerly known as Monument Ridge, the Stonestreet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon conveys aromas and flavors of dried blackberry leaves, juniper, cardamom, wild red berries, black pepper, and wet, black slate. The mouthfeel is defined by firm and elegant tannins with a distinct concentration, dark chocolate finish and a sagebrush note so common to the wines from this ridge.

A lovely Cabernet, ripe and delicious, yet complex enough to hold your interest. It's just beginning its journey in the bottle. Very dark in color, with hard tannins, it has an immense core of blackberries and cherries. Give it at least 6–8 years, but it could still be rocking in 2022.

Smooth and velvety with ripe plum, cassis and soft herbs; rich, lush and tangy with a long, balanced finish.

Stonestreet, California
Stonestreet Proprietors Christopher and Ariel Jackson Winery Image

In the autumn of 1989, Jess Jackson acquired the Zellerbach winery and renamed it in honor of his late father, Jess Stonestreet Jackson. Stonestreet quickly garnered international acclaim for their powerful reds and luscious whites.

Today, Stonestreet wines are undergoing a transformation, using fruit from Alexander Mountain Estate and new winemaking techniques. Alexander Mountain Estate, with lean, well-draining soils and cooler temperature, produces fruit with smaller berries and more intense color and flavor. Stonestreet is dedicated to fulfilling the promise of Alexander Valley's exceptional and distinctive vineyards. Traditional, Old World methods of hand harvesting, small barrel lot production, native yeast fermentation and bottling each wine unfiltered brings out the best in specific grape varieties and provides the quality framework for each Stonestreet wine.

While Sonoma County is acclaimed—and rightfully so—for its Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs, and Zinfandels, it also produces exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. Of the region’s 18 American Viticultural Areas, only a handful produce top-notch Cabernet Sauvignon. These appellations include Alexander Valley, Knights Valley, Sonoma Valley and Dry Creek Valley. Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignons made in these appellations can offer a complex array of aromas and flavors. Fruit notes such as blackberry, blackcurrant, cassis, black cherry and raspberry often are accompanied by hints of graphite, dusty earth, cigar box, toast and vanilla. The varietal has a rich history in Sonoma, and some of these Cabernet Sauvignons and Cabernet-based blends rival the best from Napa Valley.
