Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The wine is light straw in color with subtle green highlights. This wine displays lifted passionfruit and white-fleshed nectarine aromatics, with grapefruit and subtle sweaty notes. The palate shows balance, with ripe passionfruit flavors and complex minerality balanced by a tight, fresh acidity. This is a vibrant and lively wine.

This wine is best enjoyed whilst it is young and exuberant. Serve slightly chilled on its own or with delicate white meat or seafood dishes.

Critical Acclaim

"Very pale color. Subtle aromas of grapefruit, licorice and white pepper. In a juicy, fruity, lean style, with good cut to its ripe citrus flavor. Solidly made, fresh sauvignon with a crisp grapefruity finish."

Torn between three & four stars on this one. First taste was not impressive, but allow this one to warm up a bit and it comes alive. Nice balance, pleasing finish and great citrus acidity that doesn't dominate. The bouquet is delicate. All is lost if this one is served too chilled. I enjoyed it on its own, my husband preferred it with food. We paired with grilled salmon and asparagus.
