Stonehedge Napa Valley Zinfandel 1995
Zinfandel from Napa Valley, California
The 1995 Stonehedge Napa Valley Zinfandel is a dark, highly extracted, jammy wine showing intense blackberry fruit and lively pepper spice. This level of extract might lead one to expect big tannins. However, this wine's intense fruit strikes a balance that makes this a zinfandel for drinking now and into the next century. Its complexity and long finish come from additional layers of sweet vanilla and complimentary spicy notes owing to a blend of 19% petite sirah and 5% merlot. This zinfandel is an example of the kind of fruit intensity that old vines in Northern Napa Valley can produce.
