Stone Cellars Chardonnay 2005

For the 2005 Chardonnay, winemaking techniques were employed to highlight the varietal's bright fruit aromas and flavors while maintaining a soft, smooth mouthfeel. The majority of the wine was fermented in stainless steel, which protected its ripe pear and citrus aromas and flavors. To add body and layers of brown spice, a portion of the wine was fermented and aged in French and American oak barrels. The wine was also given a creamy texture and richness by using malolactic fermentation on selected lots. The resulting wine has bright pear and citrus flavors with a touch of vanilla, complete with a lush mouthfeel and a refreshing, clean finish.

The 2005 Chardonnay is precisely what the winemaker set out to achieve – a fresh, balanced wine that complements a variety of foods. The summer fruit aromas and flavors are balanced by the citrus and the creaminess is balanced with refreshing acidity.
