Stolpman Vineyards La Cuadrilla 2010

Rhone Red Blends from Central Coast, California

Item No. 128003
  • red wine
  • ST90

Winemaker's Notes

Brooding deep red, the Syrah dominated blend shows off its concentrated punch on the nose. This is certainly a step up in weight class from the Sangiovese-dominant: tarry, bbq meats and particularly smoked ribs, dark wild berries, and forest floor all pack into the nose and flavor profile.

Critical Acclaim

"Good dark red. Cherry liqueur, raspberry, licorice, peppery spices and menthol on the expressive nose. Juicy and downright gulpable, with light spicy lift and a hint of exotic orange zest lifting the black and red fruit flavors. Tastes lighter than its 14.4% would suggest. The dry, intense finish features fine, light tannins and a distinctly savory quality to the cherry and dark berry flavors."

Learn About Stolpman Vineyards

Stolpman Vineyards is located in Ballard Canyon, just 15 miles from the coast. The location lends to warm days with cool nights. Tom and Marilyn Stolpman planted their first grapes in 1992 and today have 120 planted acres. The vineyard continues to be a dynamic location for the planting of Syrah, Sangiovese and Rousanne. Jeff Newton and Larry Finkle, along with our Vineyard Manager, Ruben Solorzano, have recently planted high density vines and continue to explore the standards of what it takes to make the best quality grapes from southern exposed vines and limestone soil.
