Alcohol By Volume: 10.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

2009 was a good vintage with plenty of season to reach peak ripeness. We cold-fermented our Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat Blanc juice in stainless tanks and then stopped the fermentation to achieve a lower alcohol level with balanced residual sweetness.

Soft White is finished sweet but with enough acid to keep it in balance. The 2009 Soft White shows tropical notes, a hint of citrus and floral notes in leading to a clean and crisp finish.

Our Soft White is delightful on its own or serve well-chilled with fruit, cheese, and light desserts. The wine is also a perfect complement to marinated fish and poultry dishes.

Learn About Idaho

An inland state, Idaho has some of the highest altitude vineyards in the United States. With wide fluctuation between night and day temperatures, grapes here are harvested with both high acidities and high sugars, making Riesling especially successful. Other cool climate varieities like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay also thrive. Ste Chappelle dominates the state's industry and is the fifth largest in the Pacific Northwest.
