This Chardonnay opens with pleasing aromas of fresh-baked apple tart with a hint of nutmeg, white jasmine tea and sliced Pink Lady apple. The 8% new French Oak barrels add a note reminiscent of dulce de leche ice cream. The wine has a soft entry that moves seamlessly from the front to the back of the palate and rewards with beautifully balanced acidity, a lemon chiffon texture and subtle candied ginger notes. The palate is crisp and refreshing with persistent flavors and a Meyer lemon zest finish.
The wine's purity and mouthwatering acidity makes it a great match with oysters on the half shell, grilled white-fleshed fish on a bed of cannellini beans, and fresh sesame crusted Ahi tuna salad.
"There are about 1,000 cases of the 2009 Chardonnay Arcadia Vineyard from the Coombsville appellation. This is the personal vineyard of the previous proprietor, Warren Winiarski. Its light straw color is accompanied by notes of crushed rocks, white currants, citrus blossoms and nectarines. The wine possesses good acidity, a subtle, incremental building of flavors and intensity, medium body and a stony, Chablis-like personality."
