Winemaker's Notes:

Petite Syrah has long been a part of Stags' Leap Winery history. The 70-year old Petite Syrah vineyards located in front of the Manor House on the Estate's deep, rocky soils contribute to this blend, together with fruit from Stags' Leap's Petite Syrah partner growers up and down the Napa Valley. Each year, Winemaker Kevin Morrisey creates a wine that reflects the property's ongoing commitment to this varietal by combining this diversity into a classic and complex blend.

Rich aromatics of ripe blueberry, blackberry, and cocoa together with a floral back note are the introduction to this expressive Petite Syrah. On the palate, ripe black fruit, espresso, spice and mocha commingle to create a luscious and balanced wine that features structured tannins and juicy, berry flavors to the end.

About Stags' Leap Winery:

Established in 1893, Stags' Leap Winery is located at the base of the majestic palisades in the heart of Napa Valley's farmed Stags Leap District. The 240-acre estate is the home to numerous structures, including one of the oldest caves in the eastern hills of Napa Valley, and a vineyard with rocky, low-yielding soils. Having replanted the vineyard following the outbreak of phylloxera, winemaker Robert Brittan initiated the estate wine program in the late 1990s. The 1999 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, grown wholly on the Stags' Leap vineyard and produced in very small quantities, is intended to be an expression of this special place.
