Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2013 Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc begins with pale straw color in the glass followed by a bouquet of herbs - sage, oregano, black pepper, with green ginger and a grapefruit/ tropical fruit background. On the palate, the initial feel is full and soft. Layers of fresh fruit unfold to more savory notes and an invigorating finish.

Critical Acclaim

"Juicy and clean, this is bright and floral, more tart, vegetal and mineral than sweet and ripe. Refreshing. "
