This Pinot Noir comes from a blend of fruit from two of the Central Coasts leading Pinot Noir vineyards, the Nivens vineyard in the Edna Valley and the world famous Sanford & Benedict vineyard of Santa Barbara County. Both vineyards have moderating influences from the Pacific Ocean, providing a perfect climate for growing Pinot Noir grapes. The color is vibrant crimson. The nose shows spicy Pinot Noir varietal fruit with attractive dark cherry characters, light earthy tones, and fragrant French oak in the background. The palate exhibits classic Pinot Noir flavors and has a silky, round mouth-feel.

Seven Peaks Central Coast varietals are produced by the successful joint venture established in 1996 by Southcorp Wines of Australia and the Niven family of California. Southcorp is Australia's leading wine company and their wineries include Penfolds and Lindemans, amongst others. The Niven family are independent grape growers who pioneered viticulture in the Central Coast's Edna Valley more that 25 years ago where they now farm more than 1,500 acres of vineyard.

Characterized by eclectic flavors and aromas of strawberry, black cherry, plum and potpourri with notes of forest floor, mushroom or black tea, the best California Pinot noir boast a supple texture and good acidity, giving them the ability to improve with age.

Credited with the beginning of Pinot noir’s glory in California, two growers, Joe Rochioli and Joseph Swan in the late 1960s independently planted Pinot noir vineyards in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County. Today Sonoma County remains the leading producer of Pinot noir in the state, and Pinot noir is the leading red grape in the county, achieving its highest potential, in the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast.

Other coastal appellations where Pinot noir flourishes include Carneros, Anderson Valley and most of the Central Coast.
