Winemaker's Notes:

#12 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2011

Our 2009 Home Ranch Zinfandel displays generous helpings of blackberry, raspberry and other brambly fruit characteristic of the warm Alexander Valley climate. Smelling these aromas heaped upon undertones of ā€˛graham crust? typical of our Home Ranch terroir paints a vivid picture of our Home Ranch Zinfandel vines at harvest time. On the palate, these components are threaded together seamlessly with subtle hints of oak, briary acidity and the soft, ripe fruit tannins that will come to embody the 2009 vintage. Could it be that we've finally found a way to bottle Ed Seghesio?s famed marionberry and vanilla ice cream dessert?!

About Seghesio Family Vineyards:

Established in 1985, when Edoardo Seghesio planted his first Zinfandel vineyard in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley, Seghesio Family Vineyards produces wines that honor the history of Sonoma and the Seghesio family. Seghesio Family Vineyards' 300 acres in the Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River valleys represent some of the oldest vineyards and proprietary clones. With a passionate belief that wine is made in the vineyard, Seghesio pairs a century of experience on these treasured sites with aggressive farming techniques. True to their oldest plantings, Seghesio concentrates on Zinfandel, Italian varietals and Pinot Noir. Ted Seghesio is the winemaker.
