The Zinfandel for this wine was sourced from the Domenici Vineyard (69%) in Sonoma Valley and the Stefani Ranch (12%) in Dry Creek Valley. Most of the Zinfandel vines in the Domenici Vineyard were planted in the 1880's and are still producing today. Domenici Vineyard (one of the oldest living vineyards in the County) is dry-farmed, which concentrates the flavors and intensity of the fruit, and rich in well-drained, rocky alluvium soils. The location of the property within Sonoma Valley also allows the grapes to receive the necessary warmth to bring them to full-ripeness. The Zinfandel from the Dry Creek Valley comes from old, low-yielding vines that produce grapes with intense varietal character. The blending of fruit from the two sub-appellations created a rich, complex wine.
