Given a choice, we'll take Merlot from Sonoma County any day. Our cusp climate (not hot, not cold) and porous soils seem to consistently bring out the best in this noble Bordeaux variety. The 2007 is a great example. It shines with black cherries, plums, dried herbs, vanilla and mocha. The powerful aromas and soft, rich flavors make it the perfect choice for a wide range of foods and occasions.
"A pretty, polished Merlot, medium bodied and dry, for drinking now. Shows cherry, blackberry and currant flavors, with a kiss of smoky oak, and feels smooth through the finish."
