Schramsberg Mirabelle Brut Rose
Rosé Sparkling Wine from California
The Mirabelle Brut Rosé is a specially crafted blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Schramsberg's select cool-climate vineyards in Carneros, Anderson Valley, and the Sonoma and Marin coastal areas of Northern California. Pinot Noir lots, including a few fermented with skin contact, provide brightness of berry fruit and body, while Chardonnay lots lend length and zest to the palate. Additional flavor depth and aromatic complexity results from the blending of base wine lots aged in barrels and tanks for one or more years. The finished Brut Rosé exhibits fresh, elegant and toasty aromas that lead into lively and delicious fruit flavors on the palate.
The Wine Advocate - "It's attractive, but even better is the outstanding NV Mirabelle Brut Rosé, 64% Pinot Noir and 36% Chardonnay. This shows a light pink color, beautiful delicate notes of strawberries and currants, crisp acids, a fresh, lively zesty style and medium body. Both of these are meant to be drunk upon release and are probably at their best within the first year or two of aging."
Connoisseurs' Guide - "53% Chardonnay; 47% Pinot Noir. Where once the Mirabelle bottlings were priced with the big winery entry level efforts, now it has grown up and sits just above that tier. And, here, in the pink version, it succeeds as a distinctly fruity and friendly offering with all the juicy exuberance that California grapes can bring to the party. Its aromas are pleasantly outgoing and its open, well-balanced flavors make it a wine to remember when choosing a bottle of bubbles for all sorts of happy occasions from tailgating to birthday celebrations."
Focused on Schramsberg's top Chardonnay barrel and tank lots, and aged for seven years prior to release, J. Schram is the winery's signature Brut sparkling wine. Jack and Jamie Davies revived the historic vineyards and cellars in 1965, with a mission to produce California's first world-class sparkling wines. Today, led by their son Hugh, Schramsberg's team continues with this commitment to quality and innovation. Schramsberg also produces the J. Schram Rose, Reserve, Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Noirs, Brut Rose, Cremant Demi-Sec and J. Davies Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. View all Schramsberg Vineyards Wines
About Other CaliforniaView a map of Other California wineries
California has nearly 100 American Viticulture Areas (AVAs) and accounts for almost 90% of wine production in the United States. In our section of Other California, we include wines from smaller AVAs as well as wines from the California AVA. Here are a few smaller AVAs you may see on the label:
Livermore Valley AVA, located right outside of San Francisco and home to wineries such as Wente.
Lodi County AVA, an AVA further east of San Francisco and known for its excellent, old-vine Zinfandels.
San Francisco Bay AVA, a sprawling AVA that covers Contra Costa, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties, to name a few. Wine that holds only the California AVA is typically a wine that includes grapes from a number of different AVAs, which leads to the general labeling of the wine as California. This does not denote the quality of the wine, only the diversity of where the grapes originate.
About CaliforniaIt's not rare to see a wine's country of origin listed as "California." A country unto itself in the wine world, California makes enough varieties and styles to match many European wine countries. It produces a diverse range of wines that span the quality spectrum.
The most famous of the California wine regions is Napa Valley, and these wines are certainly outstanding – but it's not as broad and diverse as its larger neighbor, Sonoma County. Down south, Santa Barbara's Santa Maria Valley is well-known for its Rhône blends, as well as cool-climate varieties like Pinot and Chardonnay. The Central Coast, the largest California AVA, has many different microclimates that lead to a wide range of wines with many sub-AVAs.

Beatiful nose with aromas of strawberry and spices...excellent aperitiveMelski - Anchorage, AK411/7/2008This wine looks as beautiful as it tastes. It has a salmon/peachy hue and tastes fruity while drinking like a crisp brut.Marcia Hein - Fort Collins, CO512/31/2010I was already familiar with the Schramberg label but this Mirabelle Brut Rose' is my new favorite. And it is priced reasonably enough that you can drink it all the time or share it with your friends! Don't be afraid that this sparkler is "pink" - it is bright and sassy instead of sweet and cloying like other rose' sparkling wines. I just hosted a "girls night out" party with appetizers and the Mirabelle Brut Rose' was wonderful with all the goodies.G Burkhart, Tx. - Thermal, CA47/23/2009My wife and I like rose champagnes and had been splurging on Salmon-Bilicart for special occasions. This is just as good for a quarter of the price. Anyone that enjoys brut rose champagne need look no further.rokcstads - San Diego, CA17/17/2017Anonymous - Wilmette, IL16/1/2017Karoletha - Longview, TX15/21/2017lynnmar - Fort Worth, TX54/7/2017Anonymous - Kansas City, MO53/30/2017Dream4328 - Shreveport, LA51/19/2017Anonymous - Houston, TX512/27/2016Anonymous - Holly Springs, NC49/9/2016Anonymous - Phoenix, AZ58/11/2016Pebo - Saint Joseph, MI46/10/2016Anonymous - Wood Dale, IL45/29/201641/7/201443/11/2013Very pleasant: delicate fragrance, crisp flavor, pairs well witl fish and cheese.312/29/2012sweet, but nice.48/20/201259/2/2010My husband and I, on a return train ride home/visit from Seattle, Wa., experienced the wonderful taste of Schramsberg Mirabelle Brut Rose with the some of the most delectible cheese and crackers from around the world world! After which we promptly purchased a case making gifts for family and friends! It's now a family favorite!Feng - Washington, DC54/23/2010I loved this sparkling rose. From the moment I popped the screw, the floral nose bubbled out. The color is very very light, just a hint of pink. I found it to be beautiful to look at. It is very dry and very light in flavor, like summer night breeze in a valley. So it's easy and pleasant to drink. And yet it is very fruity. I think it had passion fruit and kiwi and green apple tastes, but I am only recalling from memory. I have ordered more and will take notes next time and update my review here. 93 well deserved points, which is the highest I have given to wines I bought here. Update: Another bottle tastes just as good as I remembered. Too bad the price went up from $23 to 30.
