Schrader T6 Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
We are proud to present our portfolio of 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon wines from two of Napa Valley's most prestigious and historic vineyard estates—the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville and the Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard in Rutherford. With both outstanding locations, we combine meticulous vineyard management with "no holds barred" winemaking practices to produce elegant wines of exceptional depth, richness, and character that we feel are the highest and most authentic expression of these noble vineyards.
The Wine Advocate - "The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon T6 (Clone 6) could be given a perfect score, it’s that special. All of this is like splitting hairs, but this opaque purple-colored wine offers up lavish, luxurious notes of blueberries, black raspberries, black currants, licorice, cedar and grilled herbs. Extremely dense and opulent with a voluptuous texture, it has layer upon layer of fruit and depth, and a mindboggling finish that had me shaking my head in awe. Sadly, this amazing wine has the most limited production of all the Schrader wines, 150 cases."
Wine Spectator - "Offers delicious purity of fruit, with enticing floral and fresh berry scents that are rich and seamless, elegant and refined, gaining a nice tannic traction and ending with a long, lingering, detailed finish that has a loamy earth aftertaste. Best from 2013 through 2024."
Schrader Cellars Winery
Founded in 1998 by Fred Schrader, Schrader Cellars is dedicated to bringing together the finest vineyard and winemaking resources available to create full-throttle, unbridled wines of great distinction and complex structure. Their programs focus on classic grape varietals grown in the famed Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville, and the Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard in Rutherford. They are handcrafted by winemaker Thomas Brown in very limited quantities and are often defined by a single clone of a grape variety, a specific block within a remarkable vineyard or, in some cases, a matrix for the two. This intricate and involved method offers an extremely provocative and rewarding exploration of the influence of clone selection and terroir on the resulting wine. View all Schrader Cellars Wines
About Napa Valley
It's hard not to think of Napa Valley when thinking of California wines. The region is, after all, the one that brought world recognition to California wine making. The area was settled by a few choice wine families in the 1960's who bet that the wines of the area would grow and flourish. They were right. The Napa wine industry really took off in the 1980's, when vineyard lands were scooped up and vines were planted throughout the county. A number of wineries emerged, from large conglomerates to small boutiques to cult classics. Cabernet Sauvignon is definitely the grape of choice here, with many winemakers also focusing on Bordeaux Blends. Whites are usually Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
Notable FactsWithin the Napa Valley lie smaller sub-AVAs that lend even more character specifics to the wines. Furthest south is Carneros, followed by Yountville, Oakville & Rutherford. Above those two is St.-Helena and finally, just grated an AVA, Calistoga. These areas are situated on the valley floor and are known for creating rich, smooth Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay. There are a few mountain regions as well, nestled on the slopes overlooking the valley AVAs. Those include Howell Mountain, Stags Leap and Mount Veeder. Wines from the mountain regions are often more structured and firm, benefiting from more time in the bottle to evolve and soften.
About CaliforniaIt's not rare to see a wine's country of origin listed as "California." A country into itself in the wine world, California makes enough varieties and styles to match many European wine countries. It produces a diverse range of wines that span the quality spectrum.
