We are proud to present our portfolio of 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon wines from two of Napa Valley's most prestigious and historic vineyard estates—the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville and the Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard in Rutherford. With both outstanding locations, we combine meticulous vineyard management with "no holds barred" winemaking practices to produce elegant wines of exceptional depth, richness, and character that we feel are the highest and most authentic expression of these noble vineyards.
Schrader's portfolio of Cabernet Sauvignons present both single clone wines and ultimate-blend clone wines of distinctive character, superb texture, and outstanding quality.
The Wine Advocate - "A wine that seems to hit all of the sweet spots on my palate is the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard CCS made from clone 4. It possesses about the same amount of alcohol as the other wines (14.5%), and is aged 20 months in 100% new oak, but it reveals an opulence, voluptuousness and a seamless haute couture fashion. There is something Pomerol-like in the 2010 CCS that I have not noticed in previous vintages. That may be due to the upfront, appealing, stunningly rich, voluptuous style. This is a Cabernet Sauvignon of great nobility and character that, despite its precociousness, should age for 25+ years. Sadly, the production of 156 cases pales in comparison to the 520 cases made in 2012."
Vinous / Antonio Galloni - "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon CCS Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is totally different from the other wines in the lineup. Here it is the wine’s sensuality and pure silkiness that stands out most. Sweet, red berries, flowers, cinnamon and a hint of tobacco meld together in a beautifully balanced, totally harmonious wine. Everything is in the right place. The vibrancy of the vintage is present, but in a more understated, reserved expression than is found in the other Schrader 2010s. The 2010 closed down quickly in the glass, so my sense is it is headed for a period of dormancy. When the 2010 awakens, it will be mind-blowing. The CCS is clone 4 Cabernet from block C1. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2030."

Founded in 1998 by Fred Schrader, Schrader Cellars is dedicated to bringing together the finest vineyard and winemaking resources available to create full-throttle, unbridled wines of great distinction and complex structure. Their programs focus on classic grape varietals grown in the famed Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville, and the Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard in Rutherford. They are handcrafted by winemaker Thomas Brown in very limited quantities and are often defined by a single clone of a grape variety, a specific block within a remarkable vineyard or, in some cases, a matrix for the two. About Napa Valley
It's hard not to think of Napa Valley when thinking of California wines. The region is, after all, the one that brought world recognition to California wine making. The area was settled by a few choice wine families in the 1960's who bet that the wines of the area would grow and flourish. They were right. The Napa wine industry really took off in the 1980's, when vineyard lands were scooped up and vines were planted throughout the county. A number of wineries emerged, from large conglomerates to small boutiques to cult classics. Cabernet Sauvignon is definitely the grape of choice here, with many winemakers also focusing on Bordeaux Blends. Whites are usually Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
Notable FactsWithin the Napa Valley lie smaller sub-AVAs that lend even more character specifics to the wines. Furthest south is Carneros, followed by Yountville, Oakville & Rutherford. Above those two is St.-Helena and finally, just granted an AVA, Calistoga. These areas are situated on the valley floor and are known for creating rich, smooth Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay. There are a few mountain regions as well, nestled on the slopes overlooking the valley AVAs. Those include Howell Mountain, Stags Leap and Mount Veeder. Wines from the mountain regions are often more structured and firm, benefiting from more time in the bottle to evolve and soften.

The most famous of the California wine regions is Napa Valley, and these wines are certainly outstanding – but it's not as broad and diverse as its larger neighbor, Sonoma County. Down south, Santa Barbara's Santa Maria Valley is well-known for its Rhône blends, as well as cool-climate varieties like Pinot and Chardonnay. The Central Coast, the largest California AVA, has many different microclimates that lead to a wide range of wines with many sub-AVAs.
