1996 was a notable year at Sanford and Benedict Vineyard, which produced a distinguished Barrel Select Pinot Noir. The garnet colored wine shows a complex nose and fully extracted fruit flavors that are nicely balanced by ripe tannin and acid. It is wonderful now but promises to further improve with age. This wine delivers aromas of cherry, blackberry, violets and soy with a long, elegant finish.
In Santa Barbara wine country, it all started with Sanford Winery. The area owes its magic to an unusual east-west mountain valley that runs from the vineyards to the Pacific Ocean; ideal for cool-climate varietals.
