Winemaker's Notes:
The first vintage for the vineyard was the 1999 and it proved to be a blockbuster right out of the gate. The Dijon Clones produce a mouth-coating wine with great balance and an expansive finish. Bigger in body, higher in tannin and slightly lower in acid than the Sanford & Benedict Pinot Noir, the 2000 La Rinconada is made for aging. This wine will stand up nicely to a prime rib of beef or lamb dish. Opaque ruby/purple color. Dense, smoky, meaty, neo-Syrah nose aromas. Dark cherry and blackberry flavors on a firm base of ripe tannins. |
