Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Red ruby very intensive colour with high violet tones and orange nuances, that increases with the age, fine, intensive, very persistent perfume, with an aromatic complexity, from violet and cherry tones to spices like liquorice and pepper, until vanilla, cacao, tobacco flavors. A wine with a strong structure, at the mouth, it is warm, enveloping, soft and elegant for its complex tannic structure; very long finale at taste. It is an harmonic wine, able to express itself better after a long aging, but will give big emotions, even if it is drunk quite young.

Style: Big & Bold
This is a great wine if you like Cab blends at give it a solid 90. I got on sale at $10.99 and well worth it. If you check past years ratings its always at 90 or over. This is a lush blend. I am one of those who sticks closely to a $10 price point but this one is exceptional for the price. This is a smooth silky Cab blended down with Merlot and Petit Verdot..would buy again at sale price.

Sangiovese (SAHN-gee-oh-VAY-zee) Blood of Jove (literally translated) The principal grape of Chianti - in fact, the principle grape of all of Tuscany - has had its ups and downs. For a stint in the 70s and 80s, wines labeled Chianti contained cheap red wine packaged in a straw casked bottle, most popular for the candle holder it would become. But no more. Sangiovese re...
