Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The color is a pale straw with green hues. On the nose are intense and powerful aromas of blackcurrant, passionfruit, grapefruit and gooseberry leap out of the glass. On the palate it is a full, crisp and powerful wine showing intense flavours of passionfruit and blackcurrant, with underlying gooseberry tones. This wine has a full yet elegant palate with subtle minerality. Well balanced acidity provides a long, lingering finish. Perfect for drinking immediately this wine will be at its best over the next one to two years.

Critical Acclaim

"Aromatically spicy, with additional details of almond skin and floral tones. Dried pineapple and dried apricot flavors dominate the fruit notes, with a pleasing acidity and a long, fragrant finish. Drink now. 50,000 cases made."
89 Points

"Pale color. Dusty, slightly sweaty aromas of gooseberry and cumin. The palate offers moderately intense flavors of gooseberry and tropical fruits, with a citrus peel bite giving good grip and lift to the lingering finish."
