Style: Light & Crisp

Wine Style Guide

Light & Crisp

Light to medium bodied wines that are high in acid and light to medium fruit. Typically no oak.

Fruity & Smooth

Light to medium bodied wines with lots of juicy fruit, typically medium acid and medium oak.

Rich & Creamy

Full bodied wines that have typically undergone malo-lactic fermentation and/or spent time in oak.

Alcohol By Volume: 9.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The color is bright gold. On the nose it is fresh and pleasantly fruity. In the mouth there are flavors of lemon and peach against a mineral backdrop. Well-matched with salads, seafood and light veal dishes.

Critical Acclaim

"Intense and creamy, offering floral, tangerine, herb and stone aromas and flavors. An anise accent pops up as this plays out on the lingering aftertaste. Very harmonious."
92 Points

"Manfred Prüm's 2009 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett is a bit bigger than usual, and perhaps a bit drier as well at 9% abv, but it still displays hallmark notes of slate, lime and apple. Fruit, mineral and gingery spice notes linger on the finish."
