Rutherford Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2000

With aromas of bright plum, pomegranate and ripe sweet, dark cherry, pleasing nuances of creamy toasty oak and hints of allspice and mocha, this wine is delightfully complex. Flavors are rich with jammy, ripe cherry, blackberry and brewed black tea and silky smooth tannins lead to a long satisfying finish.

Food Recommendation: This Cabernet Sauvignon "shines" when paired with savory beef dishes, spicy lamb and full-bodied pastas. For a fun meal try this Cabernet with polenta and risotto dishes as well!

Winemaker's Notes: The 2000 vintage began with intermittent rain. Spring was cool with some frost leading to a fairly early bud break. The light rains and coolness threatened berry set, but the clusters became nice and loose, nearly perfect. Spikes of extreme dry heat in both early and late summer reduced the crop in some Napa locations but served to concentrate flavors in the remaining bunches.
