Roshambo Winery is the fulfillment of a dream the cornerstone if which was laid by Frank Johnson. In 1970 he purchased 55 acres of apples and prunes in Healdsburg. These were replanted to vines and he was soon selling top quality grapes to some of Sonoma's mots highly regarded wineries. He developed a reputation as one of California's most forthright, aimiable and fair grape farmers. In 1999 the family made his dream of having his own winery come true. The winery on the Russian River is run by the third generation of this family. The winery will open in the Fall of 2001. The Roshambo philosophy is " the wine is in the vine". Winemaker Paul Brasset aims for "balanced intensity - lots of fruit and complexity with intense flavors and aromatics." They believe in subtle use of oak and utilize the finest French and American oak barrels.
