This beautiful wine comes from Annette and Richard Rhodes' Redwood Valley vineyard located just Northeast of Ukiah. The vineyard contains a bit of Carignane and Petite Sirah, and all combined the vines average about 60 years old. The wine displays exotic spice and peppercorn leading the effusive black cherry bouquet, followed by flavors of ripe currants and creamy cherry. True to its heritage, this Zinfandel is well structured with well-integrated tannins and stylistically showcases a sense of "place".
This wine is a natural paired alongside rich red sauce pastas, filet mignon, or even grilled veal chops.
"Densely structured and loaded with personality. Offers lively aromas of wild berry, sage and toasty vanilla, with ripe, powerful blackberry, licorice and Asian spice. Needs time. Best from 2010 through 2015. 2,025 cases made."
