Winemaker's Notes

Rombauer Vineyards' Carneros Chardonnay has earned a reputation for being the benchmark California Chardonnay and the 2008 vintage continues that tradition. Delicious with intense pear, pineapple and tropical fruits, balanced with creamy, toasted vanilla. Refined acidity and hints of apple linger on the finish. Our favorite pairing for this wine includes grilled salmon or chicken with mango salsa, seafood pasta, crab cakes and arugula salad.

While Rombauer Vineyards describe this wine as fruity with flavors of pear, apple, etc., I have to say that I think this wine boasts more of oak, vanilla and butter. This is why I love it. A fantastic chardonnay that I would buy again and again.

Starts out with some ripe sticky pear. Then moves softly into into some butter and finishes heavily with light toasted oak.

For those that think this vintage pales to past vintages, try Talbot Sleepy Hollow. Unbelievable and similar style...!

Yes, this is a very nice Chardonnay. I don't know that I would purchase it again for the price I paid on this one, though. We paired this with an excellent clam chowder. They paired nicely.

I loved this from the first sip to the last drop I waited to drain out of the bottle. It was smooth and buttery with a wonderful nose and finish. Yum.

I am a big fan of Rombauer in the past. I bought 3 bottles and had not noticed the vintage year change (2008) but I certainly noticed it when I sipped my first glass. Disappointed :( I need to find a new favorite. Any recommendations for a fabulous buttery oaky full bodied chard?
